I will be working with the Brooklyn DUMBO site. I have decided to choose this site for a number of reasons. First I find the views in the Brooklyn site much more interesting than the Manhattan site. Second, my building typology is a Mosque & Islamic school. Being that the brooklyn site is across the street from a major park it is a plus, including the view of the city and the water. I believe it is the best fit for a building in which people will be going to pray, relax and be one with God. It should be a relaxing feeling, which the views at the brooklyn site will provide. That is why I believe the Brooklyn site is best suited for my project.

1. Which building typology you are researching?
I would like to research a type of religious buildings, Mosques.
2. Why are you researching this building typology?
I believe it would be a great piece to add to my portfolio. It is something different then the typical commercial or residential projects we mostly work on.
3. What is the specialty of this building type you would like to research?
This building serves as a mosque, as well as an islamic school. I would like to research how islamic schools are planned and how it fits into a public space such as the prayer areas at the mosque.
4. Examples you will be researching:
1. Mosque, Islamic Center, Museum - BIG

5. NYC Islamic Cultural Center Park51 - SOMA
5. What are your goals for working with this building type?
My goals for working with this building type is to understand how to design public and private spaces in a religious facility. Also I will try and design a mosque which takes some characteristics of traditional mosque designs and mixes it with contemporary designs of today.
6. What are the program elements that you see included at this point in your building?
Program:
Prayer Area
Offices
Conference Room
Classrooms
Bathrooms
Library
Book Store
Shop
Storage
Cafeteria Private
